How Women Find, Grow, and Contribute to WordPress

As a co-host of the Women in WP podcast, I’ve been fortunate to have made the world a much smaller place by interviewing over 100 women from 20 different countries over the past three years. Especially during the pandemic, getting to share our respective stories of being in lock down has helped us all feel not so alone.

In this talk, I will share with you how much the women of WordPress make a difference to both their local communities and the WordPress project, including interviews with 8 of the 46 women on the all woman WordPress 5.6 Release Squad.

Angela Bowman: Owner, Ask WP Girl & WordPress Developer

I am a WordPress developer living at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado. When I’m not slaving over websites, I raise backyard chickens and make art. I also co-host the Women in WP podcast and have spoken at a few WordCamps including doing the keynote for Denver WordCamp in 2018.

Having trouble connecting? Try these options:

Usually, connectivity issues are a result of improper set up of the microphone and the camera on your device and browser. Follow these steps to get this sorted:

Option 1: Check the 2 Connection Buttons (mic/camera) Within the Video Window:

MAke sure your microphone and camera are turned on from the icons. If you still can’t speak or broadcast video, click the little arrow icons to choose a different min/camera from your device.

Option 2: Check the Sound and Video Settings Within the Browser:

In the address bar within your browser (Where the link to the page sits. Above this window).

  • Click the microphone or camera icon (on the right-hand side of the address bar).
Make sure you’re allowing the camera and microphone to work and choose the relevant mic and camera inputs from the list.
  • Within the same URL bar, on the left side, click the padlock icon and make sure sound and video are allowed on this website.

Then, refresh the page.

Option 3: Visit The Hangout Lounge for Further Assistance
